Hey Ladies,
Life can be a whirlwind of responsibilities, endless to-do lists, and the pursuit of a fulfilling and balanced life. As you juggle your career, family, and personal aspirations, it's important to remember that your spinal health and wellbeing deserves a spot on that list too.
I understand the unique challenges that women face, from the pressures of modern life to the biological shifts that come with pregnancy and menopause. These changes can take a toll on your back, often leaving you searching for solutions that are effective for your condition.
As a chiropractor and self-confessed natural health pioneer, I've seen firsthand the impact that our choices can have on our bodies. Whether you're considering conventional medical care or exploring more natural and alternative options, every path comes with its own set of pros and cons.
The Costs of Better Spinal Health
Medication may offer relief, but it often brings along unwanted side effects and only addresses the symptoms rather than the root cause. Surgery, while sometimes necessary, carries risks and potential long-term effects that should be carefully considered. On the other hand, the natural and alternative route requires patience, dedication and financial costs. It's about finding what works for your unique body.
Let's take chiropractic care as an example. While I’d love to say it helps everyone, that simply isn’t the case. Research has shown that 80% of individuals benefit from chiropractic care, experiencing improvements in their condition. Another 10% see some level of improvement, while the remaining 10% may not respond as expected. This isn’t an advert for Chiropractic - they’re just easy figures that I know off the top of my head. The point is, these numbers are hardly surprising when you think about how your back issues are as unique as your own fingerprint, shaped by all the experiences you've gone through in your life. Simply put, you may end up paying for care that just doesn’t work for you.
Financial Planning
Around 2013, one of my mentors taught me about POTS - virtual piggy banks for everything you need in life. They’re like individual bank accounts where a set amount goes each week/month to cover your living costs or anything you may need. Tax pot, utilities pot, holidays pot, mortgage pot, rainy day pot, fun pot. The one I had never considered until this point was the health pot - I had nothing put aside to care for myself and my family should we have any health issues.
My mentor explained that in-order to have a choice about who I wanted to see and when would depend on this pot. Your health pot may be in the form of insurance, payment for a private GP, monthly membership with your Chiropractor or an actual pot of money put aside for your future health but it makes sense to have a health pot that is committed to your future health and well-being.
The one thing I do know is that the biggest predator of your back pain recovery is a proactive approach. Those that take action to improve and maintain focus on their recovery are the ones that have the greatest success.
The conclusion? Stay curious. Embrace your journey to better health. Recognise that there are costs – not just financially, but in terms of time and commitment too. Accepting this reality and dedicating yourself to your chosen route can lead to remarkable transformations.
So, my question to you is: Will you join me in embracing the role of a natural health pioneer? Will you commit to exploring alternatives because your active participation in your back recovery is what truly matters.
Let's face the challenges of modern life together, armed with knowledge, dedication, and an awareness of the costs. Your journey to better back health is unique, just like you are. It's time to take the reins and pioneer your own path to overcome your back pain.
